All About Automobile Insurance in New York

High living costs in New York affects every resident of it. But the automobile insurance market is a competitive one and offers a great deal of plans. But it is always important to choose the best plan according to your necessity.
In order to obtain license plates for your car and register it, you require either an auto liability insurance plan by a company licensed by the New York State Insurance Department or provide legitimate proof of financial responsibility required by the department. As long as you own a car, you must be aware of the fact that it is a must according to law to have auto insurance.
New York Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) has set up a department called as IIES (Insurance Information and Enforcement System), that detects vehicles without insurance. All the companies are required to report any new policy insured, cancellation or renewal. At times even if your vehicle is insured, you may get a notice from this department asking you to submit proofs of your insurance. You should always respond to these letters so to avoid any possibility of any penalty. You may either contact your insurance company or call up DMV department for any correspondence.
As per New York law even rental companies are required to give coverage. Collision Damage Waiver popularly known as CDW is sold by the rental companies and if Renter does not take it and the vehicle is stolen or damaged, he may have to give the complete cost of the vehicle. Nevertheless, if you are covered under New York automobile insurance, you can take the vehicle on rent anywhere in the US or Canada for up to 30 days. You do not have to purchase CDW. You are automatically covered under that kind of policy automatically under your existing policy. New York automobile insurance is easy to obtain and hence get it for your safety.
